SMU Caretalyst aims to educate, encourage, and empower future leaders to make a difference in meeting real social needs through character and competence building.

Since 2008, we have grown to become one of SMU’s largest community service clubs, and we have worked with over 1000 volunteers and touched the lives of close to 6000 individuals in the community. We are always humbled to see so many students stepping out of their comfort zone to serve the society, and we believe that every volunteer can be a blessing and a catalyst to the society through our key community service projects — Project Illuminate and Project Ai.

Project Illuminate focuses on serving the underprivileged children to improve their academics through weekly remedial sessions, and cultivate their character and values through our interactions with them via sports, science, and art activities. On the other hand, Project Ai aims to empower Persons With Intellectual Disability (PWIDs) with various skill sets through our weekly activities and at the same time, raise public awareness on special needs.
